Abstract

Objectives:

  1. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) common bacterial organism in urinary tract infections (UTIs) from patients in a hospital setting.
  2. Evaluate the demographic distribution of UTI patients and its association with common bacterial infections.
  3. Evaluate the efficacy of commonly used antibiotics and the phenotypic Resist type among MDR Isolate.

Methodology:

Study Setting: The study was conducted at Al-Nafees Medical College and Hospital, Islamabad, in collaboration with associated healthcare facilities.

Study Design: A prospective, cross-sectional study was employed to investigate MDR bacterial strains in UTIs. Urine samples were cultured on CLED agar for bacterial isolation, and antibiotic susceptibility was assessed using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method, following CLSI guidelines.
