Abstract
Objectives:
- The primary objective of this study is to investigate the prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) common bacterial organism in urinary tract infections (UTIs) from patients in a hospital setting.
- Evaluate the demographic distribution of UTI patients and its association with common bacterial infections.
- Evaluate the efficacy of commonly used antibiotics and the phenotypic Resist type among MDR Isolate.
Methodology:
Study Setting: The study was conducted at Al-Nafees Medical College and Hospital, Islamabad, in collaboration with associated healthcare facilities.
Study Design: A prospective, cross-sectional study was employed to investigate MDR bacterial strains in UTIs. Urine samples were cultured on CLED agar for bacterial isolation, and antibiotic susceptibility was assessed using the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method, following CLSI guidelines.
